Is it Good

Is it good for us when it taste good, sounds good, feel good, look good or we think or believe something to be good. Yes I would say, but only based on our perception. What about outcomes after the fact? Exploring the word good. In this world we are challenged to believe in all sorts of things that are so call good. Food, clothing, people, ways of doing things, medicine, cures, antidotes right now is one of the pervasive ideas spreading in the world today. accomplishing goals, getting others to believe in what we believe for the purpose of making money. Do we investigate these ideas that feel, look, appear, taste and sound good? That could be a little time consuming to accomplish.
These post that I write are just ideas and experiences that I myself have experienced and want to share with others to possibly solicit other view points. Engage other opinions if you will. I am not the expert on anything. Hopefully we can support, help each other with what God has given us, our gifts. Now I am a God and people lover seeking to impart something of value into this world that’s good, Godly in anyway way I am led or prompted as my purpose calling directs me. Ok we got that out of the way so back to the word “GOOD.”

According to, “Old English gōd (with a long “o”) “excellent, fine; valuable; desirable, favorable, beneficial; full, entire, complete;” of abstractions, actions, etc., “beneficial, effective; righteous, pious;” of persons or souls, “righteous, pious, virtuous;” probably originally “having the right or desirable quality.” etymonline.com

So what ever we perceive experience to be good or Godly, please lets spread it around so others can benefit. We all can really benefit from good Godly solutions. Problems, situations and circumstances are a dime a dozen. Please share your goodness.

“Giving”

There are so many forms of giving. Most often when presented with the word giving we often associate it with money. How much should I give or how much am I going to give to support one cause or another. We start to count our pennies, dollars or fortune; if we are contemplating giving from our resources. Let’s use the Bible as a guide to understand this concept of giving. Lets keep in account the bible is a book that impacts millions world wide on a daily basic for centuries, so it must be credible as well as deemed valid to the majority, since it has sold more copies than any other book, the most read book to date, according to James Chapman, over 3.9 billion copies over the last fifty years. Hey how does that play into what I am trying to convey regarding giving? Its a pointer to the subject of giving, just because of its credibility. Of course there are many other books written on giving, but I chose this one because its sold more copies than any other book. In addition, the principles in it is used across the board in countless ways and through and in many religions. The Bible does not get the credit all the time. Nevertheless The numbers speak for themselves, most read and bought. So, who is influencing who. Here are some things to consider. To start there are so many ways we can give. We can give our time, money, love, attention, experiences, an ear by listening, forgiveness, compassion, patients, joy, peace and speaking life, (Positivity) to situations and circumstances in individuals lives. All these forms of giving bring some type of positivity into the world. I want to explore the first thing we have listed above, Time. How and what we spend our time on the majority of our life determines what we value the most. If what we do help serve, empower the needs of others we win just as much as the recipient of our gift. I am not suggesting all your time should be given to support the needs of others, what I am saying is we benefit as well. The Second on the list is giving money to a cause we deem worthy of our money.

The almighty dollar is powerful. I don’t care what know body say. Money answers a lot of questions that would not otherwise be answered. We often are fearful of running out of it. What of some of the others listed above ways to give: compassion, patients, love and forgiveness to name a few. Things we don’t have to work for. God given gifts. Speaking of God given gifts. John 3:16-17 speaks of the greatest gift given of all; salvation. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His Only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.” If we are truly aware and thankful, nothing we think we possess is ours; its all God given. we are entrusted with it for a short period of time. Truly how we use what we are entrusted with determines our quality of life here on earth. We benefit from being connected with the gift giver who is not trying to keep any good thing (gift) from us. When we understand that, we can open up and give.

The Death Of the Corona Virus

These are trying times we live in. however, it’s a time to grow and expand our lives in a greater measure than ever before. What will we choose? Ultimately, it’s up to us. We have an opportunity here to grow into everything God has provided and made available for us to grow into. All we have to do is make space for Him to come into our lives and allow Him to work through us in such a way that its not us that bring joy and peace into the world, but conduits that allow God to use us to accomplish His purpose.
How you might ask? Simply by being who we are, who He made us to be. I am talking to God’s children. We are all His children if we receive Him as our Father. What a joy to know and understand that there is a power greater than us humans that can see us through anything we are confronted with.
We would do well to get through this corona virus by continuing to speak positivity into every situation. What can we lose with that attitude? We have heard so much about how bad this virus is and what it has and can do. That’s the problem or situation we find ourselves, at the moment. Now, how about we turn our attention to being solution focused, preventive, proactive minded. In other words, magnify the solution, not the problem, or situation. Which is what this is, something that require us to deal with, respond to; not panic over.
The more of the problem we focus on; prevents, paralyzes us and makes us vulnerable to not only corona but other diseases.
Solutions could be we can build ourselves and others up by becoming healthy, spiritually, mentally and physically. Is that difficult? Of course it is right now. However, there is a pay off if we continue and persevere through the positive process in these areas in our lives. At the end is victory. Then if or when some other situation comes presents it’s self, we are stronger and able to deal with it.
Words of encouragement. Much Love,
Les

Relationship Awareness

Relationships

Who, What, How and Why are relationships in your life? Relationships can be progressive, toxic or rewarding. They determine who we become as human beings on this planet. How we manage relationships, When and if we should end them. Why are we in them. What we do and bring to relationships determine our outcome as well as the outcome of the person, thing we are having a relationship with.

Let’s dabble in the GOD human relationship. We are going to say the GOD relationship is essential for human relationships to thrive. Some may or may not agree or believe in GOD. In either case examine your human relationships to see if it’s working for or against you. if there is contention, more than likely an intervention is necessary and its not the other person who needs it. Get to know you in the deepest and most intimate way. Don’t be deceived or lie to yourself. Really sit down and take inventory. We often do not take that time to examine aspects of our life regarding relationship because we get comfortable with the way things are happening. We believe its normal. I would suspect that our hurry up instant gratification lifestyle blinds us and leave us unconscious to reality. Which can be just a lot of noise in our head. I will venture also to say that there is a power greater than us. we would greatly benefit from silencing the noise and listen to that power.

In conclusion, lets be mindful and present and deliberate when it comes to our relationships. Not so much of what’s going on outside of us but concentrating on what’s going on the inside us.

Veterans Focus Group

Veterans Focus Group

This group I attend every Friday at 11:30 to 12:30 is nothing like any group I’ve ever attended at the V.A. It’s not AA (Alcohol Anonymous) NA ( Narcotic Anonymous) neither is it CA (Church Anonymous). In fact it’s not Anonymous. It was started as an African American group in an effort to engage, dialog concerns of African Americans receiving service and support at the V.A. (Veterans Administration) in an effort to resolve and respond to issues that African Americans face when interacting with the V.A. system. Since I been going to this group it’s been a safe place to discuss personal issues I deal with without feeling judged. It’s given me a clear picture of who I am, not just as a Veteran, but as a human being. I think this is true for other Veterans as well. The group has evolved; other Non- African Americans have been invited by African Americans to the group for support as well. As Veterans we all have something in common. We are all Veterans with everyday life situations and circumstances. We get it done in this group day by day in our personal lives. We are doing something about our situation. There are no quick fixes here. We as veterans presenting problems and solutions; rather it’s through our faith or personal experiences. In addition, we have the support of facilitators, Social Workers, Megan and Johnathan. Megan and Johnathan do not take the position as experts or superior professionals in the group. Neither are they condescending in any way in their approach as facilitators. Their attitude is conducive to real genuine engaging dialog from the group. By the same token they won’t hesitate to give constructive criticism, not allowing you to deceive yourself. When they give feedback there is an opportunity to realistically look at what’s real and how to respond to any given situation we face, not just at the V. A. but in life in general. This attitude is an essential part of what makes the group work. The other part is group member participation, feedback from and to other members of the group. The group members come to group voluntarily seeking comradery and support. Some just want to talk, others listen. The whole set up is a team effort that challenges all of us toward living a better quality of life as veterans. There are some awesome things happening in this group. Its not easy to get men voluntarily to come to a group on their own accord religiously every Friday. I expect this group to grow and become an enormous support for veterans in the future across the country. I am so thankful to be a part of this group.
Do we all agree? Certainly not. We accept other points of view, become more conscious of the big picture, learn how to resolve conflict and find answers to situations and circumstances for the greater good, everyone involved. What do we take away from the group? Laughter, Knowledge, Support, Comfort, Encouragement, Humility Empowerment, Direction, Courage, Clarity and most of all Focus and Connection with each other and the environment, community we interact with. If there are other Veterans reading this post who want to find hope, have exhausted other groups, frustrated in life and want their voice heard. This could be the place for you. We meet every Friday at 11:30-12:30 at the Veterans Hospital as you go into the cafeteria. Come join us.

Time Spent

What does it take to digest our food properly? Time. How are we utilizing our time so we can get the most out of it? I am referring to the time we have and utilize in this hurry up society we live in. We say we don’t have time to do this or that. However, we do make time for things that are important to us. I am raising these questions, not to tell you what you need to do with your time, but more to raise awareness about what you choose to do with your time and what the outcomes are.
In regard to food consumption or anything else we do, it’s obvious we can benefit from taking the time to experience what ever it is that we are eating (doing). Research has found that “it takes 20 minutes for most people’s brain to register that they are full,” self.com. Which could mean we are eating so fast that our brain has not had time enough to catch up with what’s going on inside the body. Consequently, we keep on eating and eat too much because we don’t know we are full. Therefore, we over eat. This example is a parallel to mostly everything we take time to do.
This pattern of hurry up living diminishes our balance and quality of life. Every moment is to be enjoyed. Not withstanding challenges, situations and circumstances. These are a given if you live in this world. We are going to have problems to solve. That’s the growth process that we experience so we can help others grow. There is no getting around it.
With that being said just think about what you are doing no matter what the task. Take the time to understand it. Relax and grow through the process. It ain’t going to be easy, so we can loose that mindset.

Being Real

Hey Ya’ll lets be real about this living a balanced life. First of all we cannot do anything without God. You must know that from the start. The breath you are breathing is not yours, its on loan. Secondly, you are not what you see in the mirror. At best its a house you live in that was built by your mother and father in a natural sense. Thirdly, the way we behave is a product of what we have experienced in life and what we think we know. Which ain’t a whole lot in the scheme of life. I am a reader. Sometime I just want to consume know and understand everything from all the books I read. it’s not going to happen.

I said that to say that life is a journey and process that feels slow. I am going to use myself to demonstrate how this works. Ok, right now I am in my sixties and decided to really pay attention to how I am spending my life and everything that pertains to life. Lets examine my physical health as an example. In my formative years I was not so present or aware of how I ate and the lack of exercise effected my life. Now I am trying to get it together. I am present; believe me when it comes to how I feel when I eat and move this aged body. Looking at my body sometimes expecting it to whip in shape just cause I eat right and exercise. It does not work like that I am finding. It takes time to get a solid foot hold on putting your body in shape; especially if it has not been a practice through out your life. Those fat cell are resistant to change.  Discipline and diligence will be needed to notice lasting change. You never arrive. Meaning you do life day by day. Stay in today, do the best you can and get up and do it again tomorrow if you get the opportunity (wake up). sound simple. It really is that simple.

Addiction, what is it?

Reflecting on the word addiction. Looking at this word different from the way its been presented and defined. Often when the word addiction is mentioned we think of drugs, alcohol, gambling, sex or something like that. I would venture to say or think the word relationship is appropriateIt’s like we are in a relationship with who or what ever; allowed ourselves to be engaged to something or someone to use and abuse us. I am talking about THINGS outside of us. Then it affects us on the inside and outside, our bodies and minds. We are consumed. Lets continue to explore this word addiction. According to the center on addiction a research based site the following is the definition.

“Addiction is a complex disease, often chronic in nature, which affects the functioning of the brain and body. It also causes serious damage to families, relationships, schools, workplaces and neighborhoods. The most common symptoms of addiction are severe loss of control, continued use despite serious consequences, preoccupation with using, failed attempts to quit, tolerance and withdrawal. Addiction can be effectively prevented, treated and managed by healthcare professionals in combination with family or peer support.”as://www.centeronaddiction.org/addiction

So, we got that out of the way. We don’t have to claim addiction if we don’t want to. We can disown it if we want. How you say? By seeing it exactly for what it is; something, a relationship that we break up from and put out of our lives. We have the power to do that. We can notice the situations and circumstances of addiction and its adverse affect on our lives and recognize IT as an entity that we allowed to invaded space in our lives. Then we can focus, recognize the solution rather than the problem, addiction, not YOU. Sounds simple I know. I think more and more emphasis is placed on intervention, research of the problem rather the solution. The problem is not difficult to see. Its every where. We can identify all the negative affects, much like the definition above. Can we discern that addiction is a mind constructed idea that keeps us bound on the inside and acting it out on the outside. We can challenge all ideas in our mind and disown them. Some say I have an addiction. We can say we are challenged with addiction without owning it as our own. We can benefit from healthcare professionals and family members. Ultimately the choice is ours if we want to be totally free of addiction and everything that goes with it.

Why do our soul and spirit need dividing

I don’t know about you, but I am constantly asking question when I read the Bible, or any book for that matter. Recently this scripture jumped out at me regarding the the word of God being sharp and a two edged sword dividing the soul and spirit. I asked the question regarding(Hebrews 4:12). Why does my soul need to be divided? And why do my thoughts need discerning. For all practical purposed the Bible and its principles are beneficial for living a better quality of life on earth. At the same time a word from God, or revelation about whats being said and what the author is saying to his audience at that time and to us today can bring a whole new meaning to our understanding. We in today’s world text each other instead of talking on the phone. Often the communication is misunderstood or at best misinterpreted. When we talk on the phone we can say, what do you mean by that? Or, I don’t understand; hopefully we get clarity from the other person.Continue reading

Intimacy Before Marriage

A few days ago I had a discussion with a group of individuals about sex before marriage. Questions were asked do you have sex before marriage, or do you wait until you get married? In addition, it was said why get married, just have sex and live together; it makes things less complicated. There were discussions around what the Bible says about marriage and sex. We kicked around the subject pretty good.

According to the the Bible, Genesis 2:21 the first woman and man came together when there were no other humans around. The man was waking up from a deep sleep before meeting his wife or the woman he would have intercourse with (Eve). It would appear that it was love at first site for Adam. Eve did not appear to have said anything, at least the Bible does not mention any words spoken by her. There was no such thing as sin then only a commandment for Adam and Eve to not eat a certain fruit; they fail to comply, then sin came into the world according to Genesis. After that men started to do what ever they wanted to do or what they thought was right in their own eyes. They begin to have sex with multiple women, not different from how it is today. Why, maybe because there was no law against it and the women were plentiful and they lusted after them. It was said that Solomon had 700 wives and 300 concubines, 1Kings 11:1-8. That’s a lot of women. There really was no law against it. We talking about one of the riches kings of Israel, if not the riches.

As I write this article I cannot help but think about the impact today if two people get together as a married couple with out legal binding commitment( marriage). One thing comes to mind is, what if you have kids and how it affects them. The possibility of conflict between the perspective families if something should happen to one or the other if their are assets to be sorted out. Look at the possibility of how easy it would be for one or the other to say I quit, I don’t want to be with you any more. “I have fell out of love with you. I have found somebody better. There is really no binding agreement if not married but the emotional pain is the same if you are separated and have been together for any length of time.

Over all we could use a bit more commitment in our lives. Some times this hurry up microwave society can spill over in different areas of our lives and we could be deceived into thinking that life is easier if we do not commit or their is a short cut somewhere.  I confess, I have thought that in the pass, even now I am not perfect at this. However, I am aware and headed in the right direction toward a  better quality of life.  As I age I need to go in a direction until it exhaust itself, see it through till the end if I desire my end days to be without regret.

2 Best Methods for Burning Fat with Detox

Turn on the television, flip through a magazine or open your internet browser and you’re bound to hear about a new detox diet or juice cleanse being peddled, likely accompanied by an outrageous price tag and even more outlandish health claims.

It’s true that most of us are exposed to a plethora of toxins, heavy metal sand chemicals on a daily basis, found in everything from the air we breathe to the food on our plates. However, your body is equipped with a natural detox system that can help remove these dangerous compounds, and switching up your diet and lifestyle is the best way to maximize your body’s toxin-removing potential. Fortunately, you don’t need to shell out wads of cash or start munching on lettuce for weeks on end to see results.

Curious how to cleanse your body and optimize your health without having to drain your savings account or empty out your fridge? Here’s why you may want to consider a natural detox diet, plus how you can get started.

What Is a Detox? Why Is It Needed?

Depending on who you ask, the detox diet meaning can vary pretty widely. For some, it may be considered an intense cleansing diet that consists of drinking strange concoctions for weeks on end to clear out toxins and achieve weight loss. For others, the term “detox cleanse” is little more than a marketing ploy used to shill expensive and overpriced products to health-conscious consumers.

In reality, a detox diet can be a healthy way to get back on track and help your body do exactly what it’s designed to do: clear out toxins and keep you in tip-top shape.

See, your body has a complex detox system built right in, and all of your organs work together to keep you feeling healthy. Your skin pushes out bacteria through the sweat, your kidneys filter through liters of blood and produce urine, your lungs expel carbon dioxide, your intestines extract nutrients from food to excrete waste products, and your liver clears out toxins from the body.

Factors like chronic stress, unhealthy habits, physical inactivity and a diet high in ultra-processed foods can totally tank your body’s natural detox system, making it even harder to remove toxins from the bloodstream efficiently.

A body cleanse or detox diet that involves cutting out junk foods and increasing your intake of nutritious whole foods along with a few powerful detox foods can be an easy way to help your body detox and hit the reset button. Best of all, unlike on other detox diets, this kind of natural cleanse won’t drain your energy levels or leave you feeling worn down. Instead, it can boost energy, restore motivation and help you feel your best.

Detox Diet Plan: How to Detox

There are lots of different definitions of what defines the best detox diet or the best cleanse for weight loss. However, a good detox diet should supply all of the important nutrients that your body needs while also cutting out the chemicals, junk and added ingredients that it doesn’t.

Following a few easy guidelines and incorporating some detox foods into your diet is the best way to optimize your built-in detox system and supply your liver with the tools it needs to clear out toxins efficiently.

Wondering how to detox your body without spending a fortune on expensive programs and products? Luckily, following a detox diet for weight loss and better health can be as simple as making a few simple swaps in your diet. Here are some of the basic rules to follow on a healthy detox diet:

  • Switch out sugar-sweetened beverages like sodas and sports drinks for water, unsweetened tea or detox drinks, and be sure to stay well-hydrated.
  • Nix added sugars from your diet from foods like candies, cakes, cookies and sweets, and aim for a sugar-free diet instead.
  • Cut out all heavily processed and refined foods, such as convenience meals, pre-packaged snacks, and store-bought cakes and cookies.
  • Up your intake of whole ingredients and raw foods, including fruits, veggies, healthy protein foods and whole grains.
  • Swap processed meats like bacon, hot dogs and sausages for better options, such as grass-fed beef, wild-caught salmon and organic chicken. If you’re following a vegetarian or vegan diet, there are also plenty of plant-based protein foods available, including nuts, seeds and legumes.
  • Include more natural detox foods in your diet, such as grapefruit, bone broth, Brussels sprouts, berries, beets, chia seeds and nuts.
  • Trade in your salt shaker for some healing herbs and spices instead. Seasonings like cumin, basil, parsley and paprika can bump up the flavor of your foods while also providing a host of powerful health benefits.
  • Adjust your sleep schedule to ensure you’re squeezing in at least eight hours per night, which allows your body to heal and restore.
  • Get in some daily exercise, and stay active with your favorite workouts, such as walking, jogging or biking.
  • Minimize your stress levels and incorporate some natural stress relievers into your routine, such as yoga, meditation, journaling and essential oils.

Method #2: Red Tea Detox Program

Green tea has long been acknowledged for its health and wellness benefits, including weight loss assistance. The evidence is irrefutable. But are we overlooking something better?

It is true that green tea contains powerful antioxidants. These components contribute to minimizing health risks such as cancer and cardiovascular disease.

As a Weight Loss Expert, it has been my primary goal to share practical tips and tricks for those pursuing optimal health. In upholding my obligation to transparency, I am about to reveal how green tea, although beneficial, is gradually losing value in the light of its delicious rival – rooibos.

Rooibos, also known as red tea, is equally high in antioxidants, but is sourced from different substances to that of green tea. The antioxidants contained in rooibos – aspalathin and nothofagin – are comparatively rare, and help to regulate blood sugar, reduce excessive fat production, lessen stress, and inhibit metabolic disorders.

After the results of recent studies, alongside my own findings related to the major players in sustainable weight loss, I consider red tea an essential. In addition to preventing heart disease, diabetes, Alzheimer’s and more, it is an accessible and effective answer to weight gain.

Rooibos means red bush. The plant is readily available, with leaves that turn red upon fermentation. With so much potential to assist with our health and wellness journey, I considered it wrong to ignore the strength of the plant.

Unlike green tea, red tea does not contain caffeine, and therefore drinking the blend at night won’t leave you restless. Another factor of its ultimate superiority is simply – taste. The bitterness of green tea is often attributed to its high tannin content, which is less prevalent in red tea.

This particular Red Tea Detox program is fresh and matchless, already actively transforming lives since its launch. Make sure to head over because it is only for a limited time. Click here to check it out – www.redteadetox.com

No matter what you decide to do with your detox journey, make sure to follow a guide as it can be quiet daunting having to figure out what to eat and when to eat it. Passenger Journal (Unbelief in GOD)

This post is mostly about respecting where a person is in their belief system. Rather it be belief in God or not. “We all have the right to believe what ever we want” communicates a passenger this past Saturday. After asking him if he believes in God he stated that he cannot rap his head around the concept of God. I agreed with the comment “neither can I.” As we proceeded to his destination he started talking about his ankle and how he injured it during a party the night before.  We also talked about the condition of our society and how people just don’t care about each other. To quote his words: People just don’t give a s……. about each other these days. I don’t recall how we got on that subject, but my comment to him was I care about him and wanted to say a prayer concerning his ankle being healed giving him relief while at work. In addition I testified about my experience with the healing of my body, stating that God can heal him. He agreed to accept the prayer, I prayed and he thanked me as he got out the car. My guess is he’s searching and wants to connect with God and others. People are hurting out there and searching for answers to their problems, situations and circumstances. You can’t tell that by looking at them, sometimes you have to engage them.
